Oberlin Featured in Downbeat - April 2008

This month's Downbeat magazine is featuring the donation of the private jazz collection of James Neumann (class of '58) to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Neumann's collection, currently in Chicago, includes 76,ooo LPs, 15,000 78s, and uncounted CDs and jazz memorabilia.
The collection will be housed in the new Phyllis Litoff jazz facility at Oberlin, which will be under construction until the fall of 2009. Cataloging, preservation and digitizing of this major undertaking will be led by our new curator, Molly Johnson.
